Eugene Alper

Eugene Alper’s renditions of traditional Russian songs and poetry have made him a favorite entertainer in the Russian community.  Drawing enthusiastic audiences, he has been said to breathe new life into time-honored classics.  However, his repertoire includes songs in many other languages as well (English, Portuguese, Italian, Yiddish, Hebrew, and Spanish).  Eugene’s recent performance at the Descanso Gardens with the Pasadena Pops Orchestra included Russian folk songs and even the American national anthem.  Since immigrating to Los Angeles, Eugene has performed throughout the United States and in St. Petersburg, Russia. Among Eugene’s acting credits are guest-starring appearances on Cybill, Time of Your Life, and The West Wing, as well as the leading role of Count Nikolay Rezanov in the History Channel’s 2005 miniseries Conquest of America. His latest film role is KGB arch-villain Toefsky in the feature Miriam, which opens Fall 2005.

A member of the Antaeus Company, he played in the Company’s productions of Chekhov x 4 and Mother Courage and Her Children. His other critically acclaimed theatrical roles include Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and Lucretius in Shakespeare’s The Rape of Lucrece.

Eugene holds Master’s Degree in Theater from St. Petersburg Theater Academy and the prestigious laureateship from All-Union Competition of Variety Actors in Moscow.
